Durango residents raise awareness about climate change

Residents organized Friday outside Durango City Hall in conjunction with a global climate change strike being held in countries around the world. The organizer of the Durango rally, Chloe Henderson, middle, said she wanted to bring more awareness to the climate crisis after reading multiple reports put out by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Henderson became inspired through social media when she learned of Greta Thunberg, a teenager from Sweden who started striking in front of the Swedish parliament two years ago, before the #FridaysForFuture movement grew to a global scale. The event brought together members of multiple activist groups, including Indivisible Durango and the Durango chapter of the Citizens Climate Lobby.
