Do-it-yourself battlefield medicine saves lives
Sgt. 1st Class Leroy Arthur Petry, who recently received the Medal of Honor for bravery in Afghanistan, self-administered first aid that saved his life. It’s part of a major shift in managing war wounds that new research shows has had success in the Army’s major raid force.
Petry receives the Medal of Honor for his actions to throw back an enemy grenade aimed at his regiment.
