Bayfield School District has named three finalists for superintendent.
The candidates are Richard Hill, principal of Aztec High School; Patrick Antony "Tony" O'Brien III, superintendent of Frederick Public Schools in Frederick, Okla.; and Douglas Pfau, superintendent of De Beque School District, about 33 miles northeast of Grand Junction.
Bayfield Superintendent Don Magill is retiring this summer after serving as superintendent since 1998. Enrollment has risen 30 percent during Magill's tenure, from 1,035 in 1998 to 1,345 in fall 2008.
This is the second round of finalists announced by Bayfield School District. Three others were announced Feb. 10. None of those candidates was hired and Bayfield reopened the search.
The Colorado Association of School Boards is conducting Bayfield's search.
The new field of candidates will be interviewed Saturday.
