Reading the article Wheres the romance? (Herald, Aug. 24) was interesting, but made me feel for the young women out there. As a married woman in my late 30s, I am extremely grateful for the numerous women in my life who are supportive friends. More than any other place I have ever lived, women in Durango appear to have a strong sense of connection to one another. Whether it be in the realm of friendship, parenting or social justice, I have never seen a lack of sisterhood in Durango. To hear that most of the women interviewed had almost no female friends was sad. I feel concerned when a woman tells me she doesnt get along with women. Female friendships create stability and connection throughout adult life.
