As a resident of Durango for the last five years, The Durango Herald is one of my primary sources for news. Recently, I was attending bingo night at Lady Falconburghs and was approached by a Herald reporter questioning me about the dating scene in Durango. I am offended and insulted that my picture and name was associated with this story (Herald, Aug. 24).
The so-called quotes and opinions that the reporter took from me were misrepresented of my actual views. If youre going to use my picture and name, at least be smart enough to quote me correctly. For example, the article states that, Every woman interviewed said she had few or no female friends. I never said this. And I also have many female friends.
Secondly, where are the sources for the statistics cited in this article? I also find the language and slanders that have been quoted very offensive. This newspaper should represent a community that works together, lives together and is responsible when it comes to issues regarding sex and sexual health. The lead story of the day should have been Strongest earthquake since 1944 shakes, frightens East Coast, not about misconstrued romantic issues in Durango.
