Cancer Support Group to meet Wednesday
The Cancer Support Group will meet from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Durango Cancer Center Conference Room, 1 Mercado St., Suite 100.
The guest speaker, Nasha Winters from the Namaste Center, will speak on ways the center helps patients with cancer. Snacks will be provided.
Heart Safe La Plata to offer CPR classes
Heart Safe La Plata will offer these CPR trainings:
Adult CPR/AED will be held from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Durango Fire & Rescue Authority station, 142 Sheppard Drive in Bodo Industrial Park. The cost will be $50 for a two-year certification.
Basic first aid training class will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Durango Fire & Rescue Authority station. The cost will be $50 for a three-year certification.
CPR for the health-care professional renewal will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the Durango Fire & Rescue station. The cost will be $65 for a two-year certification.
Instructors are available to teach at businesses or service clubs.

Medical Web-stream to be held at FLC
The University of Colorado Mini Med School will hold live Web-streamed sessions at 7 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 7 to Oct. 26 at Fort Lewis College in Room 400 of Berndt Hall.
There will be no session Sept. 28. The program offers an introduction to the science that forms the basis of modern medicine. There will be no tests, fees or credit hours.

Neck Pain Explained to be held Sept. 14
Mercy Regional Medical Centers Orthopedic & Spine Center will hold Neck Pain Explained from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 14 in the Eolus Room at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
Spine surgeon Dr. Jim Youssef will explain causes of neck and arm pain, numbness, and weakness associated with degenerative changes in the upper spine. He will also describe treatments and procedures that can provide relief.
Breast cancer summit to be held Sept. 16-17
The Colorado Breast Cancer Coalition will hold its first Western Slope summit Sept. 16-17 in Montrose.
The title of the summit is Working Outside the Box for Breast Cancer Care in Colorado with a focus on rural Colorado. The registration fee is $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers and includes workshops and meals.

Pediatric Associates of Durango, 1199 Main Ave., Suite 205, will hold these events:
Infant massage class for parents and children ages 2 to 6 months will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 12.
