The article on tipping was the most biased propaganda I have ever read (Herald, Sept. 8). Tipping is for good service and good food.
I have walked out of several restaurants in Durango because I waited forever to be seated and then waited again to get a menu and then had a long frustrating wait to place my order, then another long wait to be served. I know how long it takes to prepare different foods and know that many foods are already cooked and waiting on steam tables to be served.
It makes me mad to see the waitresses gossiping behind the counter or flirting with the boys while Im stuck there with no service and then they expect to get a big tip for no service and poorly served or poorly prepared food.
