In an effort to pinch pennies for their corporate board, Centura Health is slowing squeezing the life out of Durango’s major hospital.
Would you be concerned to know that there is only one cardiologist at Mercy who handles emergencies and all patients with heart issues? Only one gastroenterologist? Only one pulmonary physician?
Would you be alarmed to know that the ER lost 3 doctors in one month? Better hope you don’t have a heart attack at the same time there is a three-car pile-up on 160!
In the last year, the wait to get an appointment with a specialty doctor has increased to as much as 6 months. Hope the doctor that is doing the work of three isn’t exhausted when you have surgery.
Doctors are being squeezed out and not replaced. This is a crisis for our community. Centura is turning our outstanding hospital into a second-rate rural hospital, with no regard to the economic impact to our economy or the safety and health of our residents.
Our hospital is not failing. It ranks third out of Centura’s 17 hospitals. Centura’s greed is killing our hospital’s ability to serve us and care for our loved ones.
We must fight for our hospital. Call Centura at 303-290-6500 and tell them to properly staff Mercy Regional Hospital.
