Xander Sakadinsky scored a hat trick for the Steamers.
Ian Capdevielle earned the victory in net, then played the first period in the Steamers' 6-1 loss to tournament champion Telluride Lizardheads before taking ill.
Joe Arnwine played the final two periods against Telluride.
Simmons scored the Steamers' only goal in the loss.
Sakadinsky left the game in the first period in Game 2 after he was cut in the thigh from a skate blade.
