Ron LeBlanc’s statement to City Council

“Madame mayor, with your permission.
“Madame mayor and members of City Council. For the past 12 years, it has been an honor to serve as city manager of the city of Durango. My 40-year career has been recognized by the International City/County Management Association, will be recognized, at their annual conference in October.
“I plan to retire in early 2020. This has been a good run. It is my desire to assist the City Council with an orderly transition. The recruitment and selection process to find my replacement will take longer than the 45-day notice requirement that I’m required to give per my contract. This announcement will get the process moving.
“My career has been distinguished by good work ethic and high professional standards. I received the Leo C. Riethmayer public administrator of the year award from the University of Colorado in 2016, and the trailblazer award for promoting the advancement of women in local government and building and inclusive and diverse workforce. My peers have voted to elect me as their city manager association president in three different states, unprecedented in the history of ICMA. I’m proud of my accomplishments.”
