Rancher seeks small slaughterhouse south of town
Calves at the Old Fort at Hesperus stay close to their moms Thursday west of Durango. David Mominee is seeking approval from Montezuma County to open a small slaughterhouse to process about 10 head a week south of Mancos.
Daniel Mominee’s proposed meat-processing plant would be on his 654-acre ranch on County Road 39 several miles south of Mancos. Eleven building-enclosed holding pens would be attached to the slaughterhouse in a 60-by-60-foot facility on a parcel of about 13 acres.
