Marias Bookshop sells electronic books
Marias Bookshop announces that it is selling electronic books through its website, www.mariasbookshop.com.
Thousands of eBooks are available for immediate download at the website through a partnership between the American Booksellers Association and Google.
Marias is a locally owned, independent bookstore at 960 Main Ave. It is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
Business coaching seminar to be held
Action Coach of Colorado, a business coaching firm, will present 6 Steps to a Better Business seminar from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 25 at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
The cost is $15 for Durango Chamber of Commerce members and $25 for nonmembers. The seminar will include: how to gain control of time, team and money, how to multiply customers, revenue and profits and more. Light refreshments will be served.

Dan McClure speaks at chiropractic seminar
Dan McClure with Lightning Bolt Chiropractic in Bayfield was the featured speaker for ProSport Chiropractics seminar in Seattle.
McClures 12-hour lecture was on the evaluation and treatment of rodeo and golfing injuries.
McClure also was selected as one of the treating physicians for the 2011 National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. to be held the first week of December.

Jerome Bleger receives real estate award
At the Durango Area Association of Realtors Installation on Sept. 15, Jerome Bleger of Coldwell Banker Heritage House, was given the Paula Schaefer Memorial award for Realtor Spirit.
This annual award is given by the association to the real estate agent who best personifies that spirit. Bleger has been with Coldwell Banker Heritage House since July 2005.

Sunshine Gardens receives certificate
Sunshine Gardens Country Home Assisted Living, 2518 Colorado Highway 172, has been granted the Colorado State Certificate of Occupancy for two additional living quarters.
The certificate takes the occupancy capacity to 16. The home is an extended assisted-living facility that offers care for those with Alzheimers, Parkinsons, dementia and other mental and physical limitations.

Kane Anderson completes certification
Durango Orthopedic Associates announces Dr. Kane Andersons successful completion of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgerys orthopedic board certification examination.
Board certification is a voluntary process. Board-certified physicians have met the requirements of training and education, and have passed a peer-reviewed process and an examination that demonstrates their knowledge and skill.
In addition to his general orthopedic training, Anderson is fellowship-trained in hand and upper-extremity surgery. He specializes in complex to simple conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. Anderson earned his medical degree from the University of Washington, in Seattle and pursued his general orthopedic surgery residency training at Dartmouth Medical Center in Hanover, N.H.
In addition to his surgical training, he completed a masters degree at the Dartmouth Institute, focusing on the quality improvement of health care. Anderson completed specialized training in hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery at the University of Washington and the trauma center at Harborview in Seattle.

Smart Enterprises receives certification
Smart Enterprises, a family-owned and operated full-service glass company, has received its Automotive Glass Replacement Safety Standard Council certification, making it the only business in Durango to receive such certification.
It signifies that the business has made a commitment to install windshields in accordance with the standards and is willing to participate in a third-party audit program.
