The tight end spot in a tight spot

Believe it: Russ Hochstein is even learning the position

The Broncos had two healthy tight ends Thursday at practice with rookie Julius Thomas (ankle) out and Daniel Fells (knee, pictured) only participating on a limited basis. That left just Virgil Green, a rookie out of Nevada, and Dante Rosario, a player just signed by the Broncos last month.

Don’t fret, Udall says the Broncos will be on your TV

DENVER – Sen. Mark Udall said he has negotiated a deal with a CBS affiliate in Albuquerque, N.M., to ensure that Four Corners residents will be able to watch the Denver Broncos games.
Udall said Thursday he has worked out a deal with the manager of KQRE to show the games this season, but he still is trying to find a permanent solution.
Residents of Montezuma and La Plata counties now get programming from Albuquerque, and some have complained that Broncos games occasionally are preempted by Dallas Cowboys games. Residents also have raised concerns in the past that they are shut out of Colorado-related advertising and political coverage.
The Federal Communications Commission delegates the power to set TV market areas to Nielsen Media Research, which placed the two counties in the Albuquerque market.

ENGLEWOOD – Broncos rookie right tackle Orlando Franklin was excused Wednesday to deal with a family tragedy.
On Wednesday night, Franklin tweeted, “Thanks guys for all your prayers for my little brother. Its a shame that he had to die at 20.”
He didn’t provide any other details.
Franklin’s status for Sunday’s game against San Diego is uncertain. Coach John Fox already had addressed the media when Franklin apparently learned of the situation after practice.
“Orlando was excused from afternoon meetings to deal with a family matter,” team spokesman Patrick Smyth said Wednesday afternoon.
Chris Clark and Tony Hills are backup tackles who could replace Franklin in the lineup against the Chargers if he’s unable to play.
It’s not known when Franklin will return to practice.
Franklin was born in Kingston, Jamaica, but moved in with his older brother in Toronto while in high school before going to Florida to gain recruiting attention. He starred at the University of Miami and was selected by the Broncos with the 46th overall draft pick in April. He has started all four games for Denver.
