The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Durangos Recital Series will kick of its fifth season tonight with a program led by mezzo-soprano Nan Nelson Wagner.
Wagner returns to Durango from her home in Portland, Ore., for the concert, which also will feature soprano Gemma Kavanagh, pianist Marilyn Garst and pianist Lawrence Nass.
The program is customized by Wagner and will include standards such as arias from Saint-Saens Samson et Dalila as well as other pieces by Schubert, Handel and even jazz selections from the 1930s and 40s.
Wagner has performed with the Durango Choral Society, San Juan Symphony and the El Paso Choir of the Southwest and more recently the Portland Opera Company. Other local performances include the Recital Series at St. Marks Episcopal Church and the Durango Bach Festival.
Future recitals will be held in November, March and April. Season subscriptions are available or tickets may be purchased for individual concerts.
