I could add my voice to those who deplore the loss of print editions of the Herald; however, digital is here to stay, even though people read and comprehend less.
I will, however, give voice to sadness and frustration at the loss of the Neighbors column which reported on the comings and goings of ordinary area residents in their lives as volunteers, fund-raisers, soccer parents and just plain neighbors.
Your young reporters do a great job of tracking down and reporting on newsworthy, unusual, flashy, sordid, and “breaking” events occurring in the Four Corners. We miss, however, the voice which knows us as a community, the voice of a longtime resident who knows the ins and outs of what transpires outside the arena of breaking news.
We need a voice reminding us that good things happen in this community and people pull together to get important things done. These acts make us the community we are and are worthy of reporting.
Please, bring back Neighbors.
