Best bets this weekend include a ukulele show in Durango and the San Juan College Charity Bowl Sale.
As part of the “Artists You Should Know Series,” Daniel Ward and Heidi Swedberg will perform an acoustic ukulele show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. Limited tickets are available, as audience seating will be on stage with the performers.
Ward has performed over the past 30 years in world music, jazz, rock and notably flamenco – on the ukulele. Originally from Los Alamos, New Mexico, Ward holds degrees in classical guitar and composition, and he has toured with flamenco dance troupes, the heavy metal vaudeville band Skümbaag and Ottmar Liebert.
Swedberg has been performing for more than 30 years, working in music, film and television, and she is known for her role as “Susan” on the television show “Seinfeld.” She is also a contributor to “Ukulele Magazine” and has published recordings and instructional books.
Tickets are $30 for general admission on the stage and are available online at www.durangoconcerts.com, by calling 247-7657 or visiting the Ticket Office inside the Durango Welcome Center at Eighth Street and Main Avenue.
HHHThe San Juan College Charity Bowl Sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday in the Henderson Fine Arts Center, 4601 College Blvd., in Farmington.
