The city of Durango invites the public to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the recently completed Santa Rita Water Reclamation Facility project.
The ceremony is scheduled for noon Wednesday at the facility, 105 South Camino del Rio. The event will be in the parking area in front of the facility compound at the north end of Santa Rita Park. People should use existing parking to the south or west of the athletic field.
Speakers will include Mayor Melissa Youssef, former Mayor Sweetie Marbury, Interim City Manager Amber Blake and members of the design and construction teams. After the ceremony, tours of the new facility will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Commemorative Santa Rita Reclamation Facility coffee mugs will be available while supplies last. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.
The total construction project budget was $58,923,245, which included new construction that will meet future regulatory requirements replacing outdated and difficult-to-maintain equipment. Archer Western, the construction contractor, has worked diligently with the city over the past 2½ years to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements that accommodate future growth and protect the quality of the Animas River.
