Food-safety class to be held Nov. 1 and 2
A ServSafe course will be offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 1 and 2 in San Juan Basin Health Departments training room, 281 Sawyer Drive.
The cost is $150 and includes textbooks, materials and five-year certification. Sponsored by the National Restaurant Association, this course is designed for professional food service management. Advance registration is required.

Library to conclude womens health series
The Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave., will conclude its Womens Health Lecture Series from 7 to 8 p.m. Nov. 16 with Natural Ways to Treat Menopause.
Julie Gwyther, nationally certified acupuncturist from Durango Community Acupuncture, will discuss ways to improve perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms by improving health through diet, lifestyle modifications and oriental medicine.

Yoga classes held through December
Community yoga classes will take place from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Tuesdays, 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. Thursdays now through Dec. 15 at the Rocky Mountain Retreat, 848 East Third Ave.
Classes are open to all levels and are offered by donation.

Zumbathon to benefit locals with cancer
The public is invited to Halloween Zumbathon: A Benefit for Locals with Breast Cancer from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Park Elementary School gymnasium, 623 E. Fifth St.
Zumba is a form of dance fitness that combines international rhythms. The event will feature Halloween-themed songs and easy-to-follow routines for all fitness levels. No dance experience is needed. Costumes are optional but encouraged. The first 20 people will receive a gift bag, and there will be a raffle of Zumba clothing and other prizes. The cost is $10 per person. Children younger than 10 are free, but they must be supervised. All proceeds will be donated to the emergency fund of the Womens Health Coalition, which offers financial aid to local people with breast cancer to help pay for travel, treatment and other expenses.

Delta Dental offers free dental services
Delta Dental of Colorado and Focus Points Family Resource Center have $3 million available for free dental services for people who cant afford private care.
All income-qualified recipients, including children covered by CHP+ who have reached their annual maximum, are eligible for two years of dental care. The work must be done by a Delta Dental affiliate. There are 38 Delta Dental affiliates in La Plata County, 15 in Montezuma County and six in Archuleta County.
