COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado authorities have notified apartment complex residents that they have 10 days to evacuate after authorities discovered positive tests of asbestos in the building.
KRDO-TV reports that residents were told Wednesday to move out of their units at the Thrive at the Incline, formally known as Shannon Glen Apartments in Colorado Springs or they would be evicted.
Officials said the complex has offered money for the essentials including a paid hotel room until residents find a place to stay.
Some residents said they tried to get answers by calling a phone number on the notice but calls went straight to voicemail.
Resident Braun Rochester said he believes recent renovations led to the disturbed asbestos.
Some residents said the complex confirmed residents would be refunded for December’s rent, which was paid just a few days ago.
