The Durango School District 9-R School Board of Education is seeking comments about its superintendent search.

Discover card payments accepted for lunches
Parents can now pay for their childrens breakfast and lunch fees with a Discover card at www.MyLunchMoney.com.
Discover will waive the convenience fee for parents who use their card for the recurring option through June 30.

Bullying workshop to be held Tuesday
A workshop about bullying will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Durango High School library.
Participants will learn how to talk to children about bullying. The workshop will feature Beth Cantrell from the Sexual Assault Services Organization.

Durango space club to meet Thursdays
The 9-R Space Club will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursdays at Miller Middle School in Room 312.
The club is open to students interested in attending activities about space exploration and rocketry. A deposit of $150 is due in November for students interested in attending Space Camp or the Aviation Challenge in Huntsville, Ala., June 10-15.

Film festival seeks volunteers
Durango Independent Film Festival School Program is looking for volunteer educators to screen films for possible inclusion in the 2012 festival school program.
Volunteers must be available for about 4 to 5 hours on the morning of Dec. 3 to screen films.

Dyslexia presentation scheduled for Feb. 10
The Southwest International Dyslexia Association will present Dyslexias Silver Lining on Feb. 10 and 11 at the Sandia Resort in Albuquerque.
Conference topics will include current brain research, dyslexia, learning disabilities, ADHD, diagnoses and effective education and brain diversity in the classroom.

Liberty School to hold gala, hall of fame event
The Liberty Schools third annual Hall of Fame for the Dyslexic Gala will be held at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Henry Strater Theatre, 699 Main Ave.
The evening will include a cash bar, live and silent auction, dinner and presentations by this years Hall of Fame inductees.
The goal of the event is to raise $50,000 in scholarship funds to make attendance at The Liberty School possible. The schools mission is to provide educational opportunities for dyslexic, twice exceptional and academically gifted students.

Just Once Piano for Busy People with Craig Coffman will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Participants will learn secrets of the trade. The cost is $44 plus materials.
Fabulous Faux: Suede, Rustic and Modern Painting Techniques will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Professional faux painter Linda Coffman will teach how to quickly and easily create looks for walls. Participants will learn how stripes and dry brushing can change ordinary looks.
