ARVADA – A man was shot and killed by police responding to a domestic violence call Wednesday night in suburban Denver.
Officers were called to a neighborhood in Arvada after several people reported that a man was bashing a car and other things with a metal pipe outside a woman’s house.
Officers saw the man crossing the street when they arrived and at some point he pulled out a knife, Arvada police Detective David Snelling told The Denver Post. Multiple officers fired their guns at the man, he said.
The woman in the home had been beaten. She was evaluated but not taken to the hospital, Snelling said.
No officers were injured, he said.
The shooting is being investigated by police officers and sheriff’s deputies from other agencies in Jefferson County.
