9-R school board to meet Tuesday
The Durango School District 9-R School Board will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the board room in the administration building, 201 E. 12th St.

Superintendent search to be discussed Tuesday
At the Durango School District 9-R School Boards meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, the board will discuss, and likely finalize, the personal and professional characteristics sought in the new superintendent. The meeting will be held in the board room of the administration building, 201 E. 12th St.
The minutes from the meetings and the online survey results will be posted on the districts website under a Superintendent Search link.
The board also will discuss if changes need to be made to the superintendents job description and will work on developing a process to evaluate proposals from superintendent search firms.
Native American dinner to take place at Miller
In honor of National Native American Heritage Month, the Durango school districts Title VII Parent Advisory Committee will present a Native American dinner, silent auction and show at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Middle School, 2608 Junction Creek Road.
This fundraising activity will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a Navajo taco dinner and then cultural presentations at 6:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door: $5 for dinner and $5 for the show.

DHS seniors must submit pictures by Dec. 2
Durango High School seniors must turn in pictures to Tammy Schreiner in Room W2113 by Dec. 2.
All students will need to check in with Schreiner by that date, even if photographers indicated they would send the pictures directly to the school.
DHS speech, debate team seeks volunteer judges
Durango High School Speech and Debate Team will host a home tournament Dec. 9 and 10 and is looking for judges.
Judging clinics will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 30 in Room 2084 at DHS for interpretation and speaking events, and at 6 p.m. Dec. 1 in the same room for debate events.
People interested in judging debate, performance of works of literature or recitation of original speeches, should email coach Darlene Clayton at email@example.com.
Meeting to discuss high achieving students
A parent meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Monday to discuss meeting the needs of high achieving students.
Participants will discuss honors classes, honors endorsements, clustering and more. All parents are welcome. The counseling department also will offer these additional Coffee & Conversation meetings at 8:15 a.m. in the counseling office: Nov. 30, Dec. 7 and 14.

DHS to offer onsite immunization clinic
Durango High School and San Juan Basin Health Department will offer the first of several onsite immunization clinics from 9 to 10 a.m. and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 30 in the DHS School-Based Health Center.
Advance registration is required by Tuesday. These vaccinations will be offered to any student who needs to update or complete school vaccination requirements: Tdap, meninngococcal, HPV (for both males and females), varicella, hepatitis A and B, and polio. The requested donation for each vaccine is $14.70, but no student will be turned away because of an inability to pay.

Durango Indian Market to be held at DHS
Wanbliota of Fort Lewis College and Durango High School Native American Club will present the third annual Durango Indian Market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 10 at DHS, 2390 Main Ave.

Early childhood council to meet
The Montelores Early Childhood Council will meet at 11:45 a.m. Dec. 5 at the Church of Christ annex, 631 E. Montezuma Ave., Cortez, across from Kemper Elementary School.
Lunch will be provided. The council is made up of professionals and residents who wish to improve the lives and opportunities of children in Montezuma and Dolores counties.
