Business is slow just about everywhere in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, but at Basin Printing, things are pretty busy.
Basin is offering a free 2-foot-tall by 5-foot-wide banner to businesses to announce whether they are closed or open during the COVID-19 restrictions.
“There’s enough difficulties in life right now. We want to lift people up, and this is good for people, good for businesses and good for the community,” said Jeramiah Townsend, owner of Basin Printing, 1437 East Second Ave.
Townsend has lost count of the number of signs he made, but he estimated about 70 as of Thursday afternoon.
The free signs have been delivered across the Four Corners, from Kirtland, New Mexico, to Pagosa Springs, Townsend said.
The offer has proved more popular than anticipated. The signs, Townsend said, are easy to put a good message on that people can see.
“It’s a bit of material and some man hours, but it’s about helping people, and maybe down the line, I hope people will remember Basin Printing helped them out,” he said.
Businesses can order the signs on Basin’s website, and Basin will design the sign, and most signs have been hand-delivered.
“Businesses need to advertise more when things are tough,” he said. “Our first instinct is to pull back and stop spending when we’re scared, and this could help a lot of businesses in the Four Corners.”
