In accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the state of New Mexico public health officials, the Bureau of Land Management will temporarily close several of its developed recreation facilities to help limit the spread of COVID-19
Closures include Arroyo Hondo Campground, Big Arsenic Campground, Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness Parking Area, Brown Springs Campground, Chiflo Campground, El Aguaje Campground, La Junta Campground, Little Arsenic Campground, Lone Juniper Campground, Pilar Campground, Rio Bravo Campground, Rio Pueblo Campground, Santa Cruz Lake Campground and Simon Campground.
Trash pickup and sanitation services on most of these recreation facilities will also be temporarily suspended. BLM-managed trails and open spaces remain open across New Mexico.
Social-distancing recommendations are extremely important in reducing the transmission of COVID-19 and may require that visitors avoid public lands during high-use times, such as weekends. Limit any group activities to household members, and keep parties to five or fewer participants. At all times, maintain a distance of 6 feet or more from other people.
