DHS students advance in math competition
Durango High School juniors Katie Dudley, Sam Kater and J.P. Skeath performed in the first round of the University of Northern Colorado Mathematics Competition.
There were approximately 2,700 participants in the first-round competition, and of those, the top 330 scores were invited to go on to the final-round competition. Dudley, Kater and Skeath will represent Durango High School in the final round of the math competition Jan. 21.
DHS students selected to Western Slope honor bands
J.P. Skeath, Bryce Hoyt and Ian Tacquard were selected to represent Durango High School at the Western Slope Select Honor Band 2011.
Max Kelly also was accepted into the Advanced Honor Jazz Band for the Western Slope District.

The Durango High School cheer team placed first at the NCA Western Colorado Spirit Championship and earned a bid to nationals.
The cheer team also won an award for best choreography.
