Winter commencement to be held Saturday
Fort Lewis Colleges Winter Commencement will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Whalen Gym.
FLC Featured Scholar and professor of geosciences Gary Gianniny will speak to the graduates.
Gianniny graduated from Colorado College with a degree in geology. He received his masters and doctorate degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madisons Department of Geology and Geophysics.
FLC to hold sessions for adult learners
Fort Lewis College will hold a free information session from 6 to 7 p.m. today in Program Room 3 of the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
The session will cover opportunities for adult learners at FLC and explain how to enroll and apply for financial aid.

For anyone unable to attend the recent Durango High School parent workshop called How to Talk to Your Teens about Bullying, the presentation is available on School District 9-Rs website at http://health.durangoschools.org/.
Law-enforcement students to graduate
The Southwest Regional Law Enforcement Academy in Durango, a program of Southwest Colorado Community College, will holds its commencement ceremony for eight students at 6 p.m. Friday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
This years graduation commencement address will be given by Chief Roy Lane with the Cortez Police Department. The public is invited.
The academy is a full-time training program that lasts 17 weeks, involving both academic and practical instruction.
Once they graduate from the academy, students have to complete the Peace Officer Standards and Training certification.
A new part-time Law Enforcement Academy will begin in January. Applications are being accepted.

Students to perform A Christmas Carol
The Liberty School will present A Christmas Carol at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at E. 12th St. in the cafeteria.
The students at the school will perform an abbreviated version of Charles Dickens holiday classic.
