Memorial Day draws small but dedicated crowd

Events were not publicized to avoid large gatherings during pandemic

Roses with leaflets identifying people from Southwest Colorado who died in the Vietnam War were placed at the base of the Vietnam Memorial on Monday in Iris Park. It is part of a traditional show of remembrance and respect for the fallen. Animas River Trail construction had closed access to the memorial, but the city of Durango opened access Monday morning for Memorial Day.
