The San Juan 13: Simmons links fourteeners in San Juan Mountains in single effort

Inspired by Nolan’s 14, longtime Durango man blazes a challenge
Scott Simmons of Durango is no stranger to trail running, though he spends most of his time in the mountains on bikes and skis. So, when he linked up 13 summits taller than 14,000 feet in the San Juan Mountains, he was as surprised as anyone that he did it running instead of skiing for the first time.
A longtime cyclist, Scott Simmons is a regular at the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic and is now the proud father of two strong young American road cyclists.
A line shows the route Scott Simmons used to descend American Peak, one of the more risk-involved down-climbs of his San Juan 13 attempt.
