The Durango Police Department is looking for two men suspected of stealing a wallet from an unlocked car and then making more than $1,200 in fraudulent charges at chain stores in Durango and Farmington.
The Durango Police Department posted to social media that a vehicle parked in a residential driveway on the 3200 block of West Seventh Avenue was broken into Aug. 30, and not long after, the victims started to receive notifications of fraudulent activity on their credit cards.
By 9:30 a.m. Aug. 31, more than $1,200 had been spent at Office Depot, Walmart and Home Depot in Durango. Then, charges started being made at stores such as Target and Hobby Lobby in Farmington, Durango police said.
Investigators identified two men in their 20s they believe are tied to the theft and fraudulent credit card activity. A woman was also seen with the men in some surveillance video. A gray sedan may also be involved.
