Heart art sought for Ignacio show
Dancing Spirit Gallery in Ignacio invites artists of all ages to enter the You Gotta Have Heart Show, which will open Feb. 24.
Original art in any media portraying matters of the heart may be entered. Entries should to be brought to the gallery at 630 Goddard Ave. between 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Feb. 21 and 22.
Entry fee is $10 per piece for adults and $5 per piece for artists younger than 16. A cash award will be given for peoples choice.

Spoken Word Series has Valentine flair
The Durango Public Librarys Spoken Word Series will continue at 7 p.m. Feb. 14 with The Course of True Love Never Did Run True.
Headliners will be Dinah and Terry Swan, reading play selections from Our Town, Private Lives, The Taming of the Shrew, School for Scandal and The Importance of Being Earnest.
The Swans will be joined by Brian McAleer reading love poetry, both serious and humorous, and Judy Hook, reading from the Pulitzer prize-winning novel Gilead.
The Spoken Word Series runs through May on the second Tuesday of the month.

Kavanagh to sing tonight at St. Marks
Soprano Gemma Kavanagh will give her seventh performance in the St. Marks Recital Series at 7 p.m. today at St. Marks Episcopal Church, 910 East Third Ave.
The recital also will feature trumpeter Mick Hesse and C. Scott Hagler on piano and organ. Kavanagh will sing music by Mozart, Liszt, Bizet, Scarlatti, Puccini, Donizetti and more.
Tickets cost $15 for adults and $5 for students and children, and are available at www.3rdAveArts.org and at the church.
Sunnyside library to host Kindle Café
The Sunnyside Branch of the Durango Public Library (inside Sunnyside Elementary School) will host a Kindle Café from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Learn how to download free books to your new e-reader. Bring your Nook, Kindle or iPad and your public library card. Instruction will include downloading procedures for all three devices. The event is free and open to the public.

Artists needed for diversity festival
Unify Durango Fiesta is a family event created to celebrate, unify and embrace diverse cultures with a neighborly party. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 19 in downtown Durango.
Organizers are seeking talented artists who can represent the diverse population of Durangos many cultures. Dance, music or spoken-word artists are preferred, but any submissions are welcome for the planning committee to review.
