Marriage seminar to be held in Bayfield
Pine Valley Foursquare Church, 1328 County Road 501 in Bayfield, will sponsor the live online broadcast of the Marriage on the Rock seminar featuring Jimmy and Karen Evans from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday and continuing from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 11.
This seminar includes topics such as the four foundational laws of marriage, elements of financial intimacy, how to disarm destructive behaviors of husbands and wives, keys to sexual fulfillment in marriage and more. The public is invited to attend.
Registration is $10 per couple, and child care is provided with previous reservations.

Book of Hebrews study to be held Feb. 14
First Southern Baptist Church of Durango will begin a detailed study of the book of Hebrews at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14 in the churchs Fellowship Hall, 1715 West Second Ave.
The 14-week study will be a chapter-by-chapter and verse-by-verse study. The class will be taught by Tom Cummins. Cummins has taught the Bible and religion for 15 years and holds masters degrees in biblical studies and religious education from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. Space is limited.
Pagosa church to hold Super Bowl party
Pope John Paul II Catholic Church will host a Super Bowl party at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, 353 South Pagosa Blvd. in Pagosa Springs.
Many activities are planned including a football pool. The game will be viewed on a 90-inch screen. Tickets are $5, and include one hot dog and a beverage. Stadium-style snacks will be available. Festivities will begin at 3 p.m. with a Life Teen Mass, and the Super Bowl party will begin at 4 p.m.

Feast of Candlemas to be celebrated
St. Marks Episcopal Church, 910 East Third Ave., will celebrate the Feast of Candlemas, or Presentation of Our Lord Jesus at the Temple 33 days after he was born, as prescribed by the law at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
This tradition calls for members of the congregation to bring a candle, which will be lit during the service and put aside for times of special prayers and intentions during the year. The service will feature a candlelight procession in which the candles are lit from the Christ candle. Candles will be supplied for people who do not have them. This service will have the reading of St. Simeon and St. Anna recognizing Jesus as savior of the world. The Rev. Rona Harding, St. Marks interim rector, will preach and preside. All are welcome.
