Show will benefit Farmington group
The Anasazi Foundation will host the second annual Anasazi Antics fundraiser to benefit Sandstone Productions at 5 p.m. March 3 at the Farmington Civic Center, 200 W. Arrington St.
The stage performance will feature many performers from the community, and there will be a raffle for door prizes.
Sandstone Productions is a nonfunded division of the city of Farmington department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs and relies on fundraising events, volunteers, donations and attendance. The 2012 season will feature Fiddler on the Roof.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12.

Improv troupe to hold auditions
Durango DOT Comedy, Durangos local improvisational comedy troupe, will hold auditions for new cast members at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave.
Auditions are open to anyone with a quick wit and the desire to make others laugh.

Syverson to host writing class
Local actor and author Sarah Syverson will teach a Creative Nonfiction Writing Class from 6 to 9 p.m. March 6 at the Painted Turtle Studio, 121 W. Grand Ave. in Mancos.
The class will open you up to your own imagination and potential as a writer. It will focus on writing creative nonfiction in a playful and open environment and provide an opportunity to establish relationships with other aspiring writers and receive supportive feedback to grow your own abilities.
The class is for students 18 and older. The cost is $28. To register, call 533-7136.
Teen writers contest will open in March
In honor of National Poetry Month, the Durango Public Library will hold its second annual Teen Writing Contest in March. There are categories for short story and poetry, and writers may submit one entry per category. Submissions will be divided into age categories for writers ages 12-14 and 15-17.
Entries will be accepted beginning Thursday through March 31. Entries may be dropped at the library or emailed to email@example.com. Winners will be notified by April 7, and the awards ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. April 10 with prizes, refreshments and readings from the winning entries.

Dance in the Rockies will present Showcase
Dance in the Rockies will present the fifth annual Competition Team Showcase at 6 p.m. March 3 at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. Dancers age 7-18 will perform pieces prepared for the Revolution Dance Competition in Denver in mid-March and other conventions.
Top competitive pieces in ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, tap and musical theater will be presented.

Volunteers needed at Arts Center
The Durango Arts Center will host a coffee for prospective volunteers at 10 a.m. today in the Barbara Conrad Gallery. Current volunteers will introduce the many volunteer opportunities available and will encourage participation in the centers many programs.
Special needs for volunteers are for the docent committee and at the receptionists desk. Refreshments will be served.
