Durango High School football given championship sendoff by town

The Durango High School football team departed the school at 10 a.m. Friday en route to the CHSAA Class 3A state championship game to be played at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pueblo against Roosevelt High School. They loaded the team bus and were celebrated as they left town by cheering parents such as mothers Shara Baruch, left, April Bates, center, and Melissa Stauffer. The team received a police escort through downtown all the way to the city limits in their first trip to a state championship game since 1988.

About 200 supporters showed up on Friday morning to send off the Durango High School football team on their way to the Colorado High School Activities Association Class 3A state championship game in Pueblo on Saturday.
