Forecasters predicted snow for today, and the weather, considerately, obliged. In Bayfield, students were especially appreciative because they got out of school.
Troy Zabel, superintendent for Bayfield schools, said it wasnt so much the accumulation of snow that concerned officials but the blizzard conditions.
Zabel said when he had to make the closure decision at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, the wind was blowing hard and visibility was low.
Though the weather later started to let up, we didnt want to take the chance, he said.
Snow was predicted to continue through the day and dwindle in the evening. The forecast for Wednesday is sunny with a high of 40 degrees. A chance of snow returns to the forecast Wednesday, and the chance of snow for Thursday is 40 percent.
