Bayfield girls drop their ‘dogfight’ to No. 3 Eaton in the Elite Eight
After a strong three quarters, Breetta Moe and Bayfield’s grip on its state quarterfinal was wrestled away by Leah Cheney and the Eaton Reds on Thursday at Moby Arena in Fort Collins. Moe scored a game-high 18 points for the Wolverines, 12 of them from 3-point range and 15 of them in the first half.
Bayfield senior Kayla Strobel hung her head after a 52-38 loss to Eaton on Thursday in the elite eight of the CHSAA Class 3A Girls Basketball State Championships, then Candace Shaw (background) shared a message for today’s consolation opponent, No. 2 Machebeuf: “We didn’t come here to get eighth.”
