A house sustained damage in a fire Saturday in Arboles, but the resident inside was uninjured and the house remains in livable condition.
Los Pinos Fire Protection District Capt. Josh Lorenzen said when firefighters arrived around 3 p.m. the backside of the residence was on fire.
“We were able to get it quickly extinguished,” he said.
The backside of the house sustained damage at the origin point of the fire, but firefighters helped the occupant of the house seal the building, he said.
“There was some smoke damage, but the structure was not a complete loss,” Lorenzen said.
Six firefighters responded with one engine and a water tender, he said. Firefighters quickly doused the blaze then remained on scene for about three hours mopping up ensuring hot spots were out and assisting the resident of the house, Lorenzen said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, he said.
Lorenzen said the house is located in Archuleta County, just across the La Plata County line.
