The Library Advisory Board of the Durango Public Library thanks Rachel Turiel and Salye Stein for their service on the board.
Turiel served two terms, a total of six years, and was the board’s vice-chairwoman. Stein served on the board for one term of three years. The tenure of both women was marked by wise counsel and a passion for the library, its staff and the community it serves.
Turiel was a member of LAB’s Library Community Champion Committee, wrote numerous letters to the editor for the board, and helped author reports to City Council and county commissioners. Stein served on committees that investigated and produced a number of reports on library needs and was unmatched in her support for library programs and staff. We appreciate and salute their work for the library and to the community.
