Two separate car crashes Friday night sent three people to Mercy Regional Medical Center and one person to St. Anthony Hospital & Medical Center in Denver.
Two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision about 10 p.m. Friday near Florida Road (County Road 240) and County Road 234, said Trooper Josh Lewis of the Colorado State Patrol.
Both parties in the crash were female, Lewis said.
Authorities were forced to extricate one woman, who was breathing but unconscious, from the vehicle, he said.
The woman was flown to St. Anthony Hospital & Medical Center with severe injuries, he said.
The other woman was transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries, Lewis said.
Earlier, at about 7 p.m., two vehicles went off the road near the 34000 block of U.S. Highway 160, east of Elmores Corner.
The crash, believed to be caused by a rear-end collision, involved a passenger and driver in one vehicle and one driver in the other vehicle, Lewis said.
The passenger and driver from the same vehicle were transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries, he said.
A female driver of the other vehicle was cited in the crash, Lewis said.
Lewis was on duty Saturday as a public information officer out of Denver. However, a supervisor from the Colorado State Patrol office in Montrose was unavailable Saturday to provide additional details.
