The Bayfield High School baseball team did more than double-up the Dolores Bears on Saturday.
The Wolverines even did more than triple it; they put up a score 29-times higher than the Bears, winning with a 29-1 final score.
We pounded the ball (Saturday), BHS head coach Tom Horton said.
The Wolverines jumped out fast, scoring 11 in the first inning on a flurry of base hits.
We really needed it. It was good to get those hits, Horton said of his sub-.500 team. I think everyone had at least one hit.
Tyler Kerr hit an inside-the-park home run, the first of his high school career.
From the mound, Clay Miller took the win, pitching four innings of one-hit baseball.
Bayfield improved to 4-5 with the win and will play Durango after the Wolverines spring break on April 6 at DHS in a rare regional rivalry game.
