The Ignacio High School baseball team came from behind three times Saturday.
The last comeback, with snowflakes falling and the temperature dropping, helped the Bobcats to a dramatic 9-8 win over Dolores in a San Juan Basin League game at Southern Ute Field.
It was snowing pretty good those last couple innings, Ignacio head coach Ardie Eleck said. It was pretty nasty out there.
The Bobcats helped their cause with a four-run rally in the fifth inning and two critical runs in the sixth.
Dawrence Romero had a big two-run triple in the sixth for us, Eleck said. He played a good game (Saturday).
Jeff Herrera was 3-for-4 with four stolen bases against the Bears. Teammate Tyler Young had two hits and three stolen bases.
Young also picked up the win in relief. He pitched the last five innings for the Bobcats, striking out seven.
Dolores threatened to tie the game in the top of the seventh, but Young stranded the tying run at third base to end the game.
It was a good win for the guys because we kept coming back and kept coming back. Eleck said. Then, we finally took the lead.
Ignacio (2-6, 1-1 SJBL) will play at Nucla at 1 p.m. Tuesday, then at Dove Creek for two Saturday.
