On May 5, the Durango High School Student Council will host the first-ever Big Event Durango from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event will give local students and adults the opportunity to give back to their community by providing assistance to nonprofit organizations, businesses and households. Volunteers will meet at 10 a.m. at the high school and go around the community in teams providing help until 2 p.m. Volunteers then will return to DHS for food, drinks and live music in the parking lot.
If you would like volunteers to help you with a task, please print out an application, available on the DHS website at http://dhs.durangoschools.org/document/school-newsletter/big-event-application, and return it between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to the Welcome Center at the school, 2390 Main Ave. Applications also can be picked up at the DHS Welcome Center.
If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please email or call the Student Council Civic Service Committee, then come May 5 for a great day of giving back to the community.
This will be a unique and fun opportunity to benefit many residents and is a great way to say thank you to the beautiful community we live in.
