Utah photographer will share his secrets
Photographer Joaquin Salazar of Bluff, Utah, will give a free slide and lecture presentation at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Durango Arts Center Education Center.
Salazar will show 25 never-before-released photos taken on extensive travels throughout the West. He also will discuss the importance of art and wilderness, imagination and why we should teach the art of wilderness to children, much like we teach them language. He will discuss his themes of Consonance and Agreements Made, based on his travels through the high desert.
Salazars work is on display through April at the Fifth Corner Photo Gallery upstairs at the Durango Arts Center.

Student artists to show works at the Commons
The public is invited to an art exhibit featuring the creative works of Southwest Colorado Community College East Campus students from the spring semester Water Color II and Drawing I classes.
Select works from the students of Mary Frey and Doug Pfliger will be featured at an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. April 27. The exhibit will be held in the Art Room, the GoZone and the second-floor hallway of the Commons Building at 701 Camino del Rio. All currently enrolled SCCC students also are invited to attend.Scholarships will be awarded.
