As Mercury expands, its Durango ties are reaffirmed

Though private-equity firm Silver Lake Partners bought a controlling interest in Mercury Payment Systems in 2010, Mercury CEO says the firm's roots are firmly planted in Durango.
Silver Lake Partners, based in California, touts itself as a “leader in private investments in technology and technology-enabled industries.” It owns 62 percent of the Durango-based company, Taylor said.
“We chose them as a partner to help take Mercury through our next stages of growth, and as a tech-centric firm, they've been helpful in a variety of ways,” Taylor said.
He noted construction near the Durango Mall should serve as proof positive of Mercury's commitment.
“The recent groundbreaking for our headquarters in Durango should put any doubts about Mercury's commitment to the area to rest. We're extremely committed,” he said.
