A Durango man was in critical condition Tuesday in a Denver hospital where he was airlifted after losing control of his 2005 Toyota Tundra near the Glacier Club on U.S. Highway 550 north.
The accident happened at 12:58 p.m. when Eric Colby, 43, hit a delineator post and overcorrected, said Colorado State Patrol Cpl. Jared Rapp.
Colby went off the right side of the road and rolled at least 2¾ to 3¾ times, Rapp said.
Colby, who was wearing a seat belt, was not ejected, Rapp said. There were no other occupants in the truck.
The Colorado State Patrol was notified of the crash at 1:01 p.m. Tuesday, and the victim was transported by emergency vehicles after being extracted from the badly damaged vehicle, Rapp said.
He was later airlifted to St. Anthonys Hospital in Denver.
The Colorado State Patrol was investigating why Colby went off the right side of the road.
Speed, drugs or alcohol were not suspected to be factors, Rapp said.
