Friedrich’s ‘dream come true’

Rockies’ rookie’s W couldn’t have come at a better time, too
“I guess it’s a dream come true,” rookie starter Christian Friedrich said after the Rockies’ much-needed 6-2 win Wednesday at San Diego. “I struggled the last two years. To come up here and have some success, I know it’s only one, but it feels great. It’s a weight lifted off my shoulders. Now I can go out and there and do my thing.”
Jason Giambi was 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI double in the Colorado Rockies’ 6-2 win Wednesday over the Padres in San Diego. It was their first win in six games.
Rockies rumpus

Jim Tracy said RHP Jeremy Guthrie is scheduled to make a rehab start for Class A Modesto on Thursday. If all goes well, he could be activated in time to start Tuesday night at San Francisco. Guthrie is on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder injury suffered in a fall from his bicycle. ... Both teams are off Thursday. The Rockies will open a three-game series Friday night at Los Angeles, with Jamie Moyer (1-2, 4.01) scheduled to face Chris Capuano (4-0, 2.21) in a matchup of lefties. The Padres will open a series Friday night at Philadelphia, with lefty Clayton Richard (1-4, 4.89) scheduled to face Vance Worley (2-2, 2.84).
