The debate, for better or for worse, is ongoing, but it is unprecedented
Former New York Mets manager Willie Randolph addressed the University of Michigan baseball team after a spring training game in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Soon, the ties between NCAA baseball and the MLB could grow stronger.
Major League Baseball might provide scholarships and exert greater influence over Division I college baseball if a proposed partnership with the NCAA becomes reality. A spokesman for MLB, the head of the players union and the NCAA confirmed preliminary discussions have been held, most recently last month in New York.
