Steele Allred cleared 13 feet Thursday in the Class 3A pole vault, but the Bayfield High School senior said he wasn’t at full strength in his runner-up result. “I thought I had more than that,” said Allred, who is coming off an illness.

Aaron Velasquez set a personal record and a school record with his final throw of the discus at Bayfield High School. The senior finished third at the state meet with a throw of 150 feet, 8 inches – “my last throw was my best throw,” he said.
