A new exhibition highlighting the remote stretches of desert that artist Georgia O’Keeffe called “the faraway” and the landscape paintings those places inspired opened this month at the museum in Santa Fe. This 1944 image shows O’Keeffe at the Black Place in northwestern New Mexico.
Georgia O’Keeffe’s “Pedernal 1945” was a gift of The Burnett Foundation to the O’Keefe Museum in Santa Fe.
“Black Place, Grey and Pink,” 1949, a gift of The Burnett Foundation, is another piece in the new exhibit.
