The Durango Public Librarys first childrens art contest will be on display through July 28 to promote the librarys Dream Big READ! summer reading program. Prizes were awarded in three categories. It Wouldnt Be Summer Without Books, a watercolor-and-ink illustration by seventh-grader Taylor Hayes, tied with eighth-grader Lily Burdick for first place in the Middle School category. Bayfield fourth-grader Ella Gavlinskis untitled pencil illustration (not shown) won the intermediate (grades second through fourth) category.
