U.S. Highway 550 at Farmington Hill was closed for more than an hour Monday evening after a van rolled over and landed on its roof just up the hill from the intersection with U.S. Highway 160.
The white 1997 Ford van, which was adapted for wheelchair use, flipped over about 5:20 p.m.
They had a hard time extricating the driver, Colorado State Patrol Trooper Nate Reid said.
He could not release the drivers name pending notification of the family, but said he was a 58-year-old Durango resident.
The drivers condition was not available as of Monday evening.
I have no idea what caused it at this point, Reid said.
It was a single-vehicle accident, and only the driver was in the vehicle.
Traffic was detoured to Colorado State Highway 172 and County Road 220 until about 6:30 p.m.
Several agencies responded to the accident, including the Durango Police Department, the La Plata County Sheriffs Office and Durango Fire & Rescue Authority.
